Headteacher’s Welcome


Welcome to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School! I hope that you will enjoy looking around our site. Our aim is to give you as much information as possible about our school, the staff and the many activities our children enjoy through our curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

We are a Catholic school which prides itself on living its mission by creating a happy, caring school where everyone is encouraged and inspired to reach their true potential. I am extremely proud to lead a team that is committed to children’s well-being, achieving high standards and providing the very best opportunities for all in our care.

The excellent start begins in Nursery and continues through the school with staff providing a happy, supportive and purposeful environment, and a curriculum that excites and stimulates children’s imaginations and creative thinking. Our curriculum is delivered both through discrete subject teaching and a cross curricular approach, which is further enhanced by whole school themed days and event. Within our school site we are fortunate enough to have our own playing field, two trim trails, an all-weather running track and our very own Forest School. Frequent trips, visits and a wide range of after-school clubs further add to the opportunities available to our children.

We work in partnership with parents/carers and the wider community to ensure the success of our children. We believe that children learn best when there are strong links between home and school.

We are proud to be part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust along with our feeder secondary school St Robert’s and Catholic primary schools from the parish of St. John XXIII.

Year 2 have had an amazing morning in Forest School. They painted beautiful pictures using paints and inks they made themselves from natural materials. After a delicious hot chocolate break, they used pebbles, twigs and other finds to create mini cairn sculptures. A fantastic time was had by all! See MoreSee Less

Year 5 enjoyed their sound and vibrations revision lesson with Mr Anderson. They remembered quite a lot so Mrs Murray will be proud. They also asked some very scientific questions linking their knowledge of sounds and vibrations and their knowledge of the planets. Well done Year 5! See MoreSee Less
